Lundin For Africa

CARE: Community Markets for Conservation

Funded jointly with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and supporting the implementation, CARE Canada, these initiative targets increasingly vulnerable, resource-poor households in the project area are increasingly degrading the natural resource base as they encroach on economically and ecologically sensitive areas in the Luangwa Valley. The Community Markets for Conservation (COMACO) project is a market-based strategy aimed at enhancing natural resource management and building rural livelihoods through extension support, improved marketing, better land use and farming techniques, and a community-based (and jointly-owned) trading centre based on a successful pilot project in Lundazi and Chama Districts.

The Lundin for Africa Foundation is a Canadian registered charity and has a more limited mandate than Lundin for Africa Society. The Lundin for Africa Foundation only grants to other Canadian registered charities (or "qualified donees") as that term as defined in the Income Tax Act (Canada).
