BDA Foundation: Medicinal Plant CultivationThe Biotechnology for Sustainable Development in Africa ("BDA") is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support scientific cooperation with local African communities by establishing training programs, providing technical assistance, and initiating biotechnology projects related to the sustainable development of African medicinal plants. BDA is committed to the eradication of poverty through strategies and initiatives built upon environmentally sound and sustainable management of resources. The Lundin for Africa Society will provide financial support to the execution of the projects implemented by BDA in the Democratic Republic of Congo, including educational programs in biotechnology and medicinal plant cultivation, training in good agricultural practices and an entrepreneurial fund for agro enterprises. This project falls under the auspices of the Lundin for Africa Society, a Canadian not-for-profit organization that funds projects worldwide, with the goal of implementing sustainable community development programs in Africa. The Lundin for Africa Foundation is a Canadian registered charity and has a more limited mandate than the Lundin for Africa Society. The Foundation provides project-based grants to registered Canadian registered charities operating in Africa (or "qualified donees" as that term as defined in the Income Tax Act (Canada)).
The Society is a Canadian not-for-profit organization that funds projects in Africa through a mixture of grants and impact investments. |
